Lieu historique national du Chantier A.C. Davie

Open year round

Visit the First Shipyard of the South Shore

The Chantier A.C. Davie was the first shipyard to be built on the South shore and remained open from 1829 to 1989. During all those years, the shipyard was an important employer of the city. Numerous boats were built here, like the replica of the Grande Hermine. Take advantage of a guided visit of the site and its towing plan, which was the first of its kind in Canada.

During your visit, you can discover the Davie family, a businessmen family that transformed the shipbuilding industry using new technologies. You can also visit the new exhibition “Un chantier 10 métiers” (One shipyard, 10 trades), through which you will learn everything about the numerous trades that can be done at a shipyard. You will surely discover something new!
