A Tribute to These Pioneers
The Site historique des Pères Trappistes tells visitors about the story of these founder monks and the important role they played in the community. This site was the first of its kind in Lower Canada. The archaeological site is located exactly where the monastery of Notre-Dame de la Trappe du Saint-Esprit was erected, the monastery in which the monks lived in the 19th century.
A few artefacts have been preserved and can be seen on the site. Climb up the observation tower to have a breathtaking view on the surrounding mountains. Offer yourself a commented visit at the interpretation pavilion, where you will have the chance to learn about the history of those monks. Enjoy your visit!
