In order to allow you to discover all the aspects of the city of Sainte-Marie, you can follow two different circuits: the patrimonial circuit, along which you can see the former commercial and industrial Sainte-Marie, and the religious circuit, along which you can visit the numerous religious sites and churches of the city.
Outdoor activity enthusiasts will be pleased in Sainte-Marie since they can use picnic areas, hiking trails and a cycle path. Stop at the Ferme C.M. Labrecque where you will get close to a red deer herd and even have the possibility to touch the animals. It is even possible to taste their exquisite meat and visit the mini-farm that will surely charm younger ones.
If you like architecture and history, you must visit the Maison Dupuis, the Maison J.-A. Vachon and the Maison Pierre-Lacroix. The first one will make you relive the beginning of civil aviation and will present you four rooms dedicated to pioneer fliers and bush pilots. You can also have a picnic in the park or the gardens and taste delicious treats at the sugar shack. The second house has been turned into an interpretation centre that will teach you everything there is to know about the Vachon cakes company. There, you will find the oldest wedding cake in the world, according to Guinness. Finally, the third house is the oldest stone house in the La Beauce area and it offers workshops of art demonstration, a gift shop and a thematic exhibition.
