River and Legend

Saint-Vallier-de-Bellechasse is part of the very select Most Beautiful Villages of Quebec Association. Well established on its coastal plain, this village offers a great view on the St. Lawrence River. In the distance, visitors can catch a glimpse of the Île d'Orléans, part of the Charlevoix region and Québec City. Everywhere in the village, solid ancestral houses can also be admired, some dating back to the 18th and 19th century.

At the Domaine de la rivière Boyer, you can visit a migratory bird sanctuary or attend the snow geese flight in spring or fall. You will find here a large number of regional products, especially at the traditional bakery or at the cheese factory. Saint-Vallier-de-Bellechasse was also home to the Corriveau, a legendary figure of the 18th century. She was arrested and found guilty for the murder of two of her husbands. With the time, her story became legend, and some say that she would have killed not two but seven of her husbands.
