Saint-Michel-de-Bellechasse, which is part of the Association of the Most Beautiful Villages of Quebec, is located by the St. Lawrence River, only a few kilometres from Lévis. The view on the River and on the islands of Grosse-Île and Isle-aux-Grues is simply majestic. The most beautiful landscapes are surely those of the sunsets. From here, you can also admire the Laurentian Mountains on the North shore, as well as the Île d'Orléans to the east.
The village of Saint-Michel was founded in 1678 by Lord de La Durantaye and was known under the name of Saint-Michel-de-la-Durantaye for that reason. In the village, you will find some pretty houses that are almost all alike: white houses with a coloured roof and charming dormer windows. Many historic buildings are also part of the built heritage of this village, like the presbytery that dates back to 1739, the procession chapel and the sanctuary Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes.
